I definitely should've mentioned that the story isn't set in our world. It is based on it, though. There are four countries that are important in the story.
The Alamedas are in one that is based loosely on Spain/Israel.
Xanthe comes from one that is based on Greece.
The Antovs are in one that are based much looser on a real country, but kind of similar to America/Sweden/Egypt.
The Amadeos are from one based on France, but I could just as easily use Italy, because I like your suggestions.
Fabien Emile Dumont is awesome for Fabien.
Lowri has roots from several different countries but was born in the same country as the Alamedas
Auden doesn't really matter. Oswin James Montgomery works great.
The last names were chosen completely randomly and only as a way to differentiate between the families, which I also should've mentioned. So, sorry about the confusion there. 馃槄
