On one hand, it's quite hippyish. On the other hand, I love it! It's one of my favourite plant names. It's not as exaggerated as Honeysuckle nor as boring as Daisy (although I like it); it's in the middle. I think it can work in real life.

As for the nicknames, I like Sally and Via, and think Sal is too plain, however, I'd choose Vivi as a nickname.
