Re: Are there names you want to like but don’t?

Eleanor. At one point in my teens I feel like I tricked myself into liking it more because it technically hit all the right notes with me: sophisticated, classic, historical, ageless, known-but-not-overdone. It's even got all the frilly, airy vowels that prettify it.
Slowly I came to realize that I didn't really like Eleanor all that much after all, I just liked the idea of it. The sound is quite dull and uninspired when I say it aloud.

Yeah ditto. My family has an aunt Eleanor and so I've grown up hearing the name, and maybe it's just the way we say it, but there's no music to it at all. Ella-nor should be a beautiful sound, but I just hear something that sounds closer to Elmer. Which is cute and dorky, so I should like it! But I can't muster up any enthusiasm.
