Ellie
Do you think Ellie is okay as a stand-alone name? Do you like it?

I actually think Ellie works fine as a full name, though I prefer it as a nickname.
Is it okay? Yes. Do I like it? No.
As a full name I'd prefer it to be spelled Elli, like the character from Norse mythology. That makes more sense to me than Ellie. Normally I don't go for names ending in i, but for some reason Elli works. Go figure!
I would have hated to be an Ellie with no full name, growing up. I'll just say that. It's a bit simplistic and infantile for me, personally.

In the UK it was the second most popular name for girls in 2002.
I've met do many Ellie's and for many of them it is their full name.
I do think it's boring. Eleanor or Elizabeth "Ellie" are still boring but she will have other options (Nora, Lizzy etc) just in case she doesn't like Ellie.

I think it can be a standalone name, but it has more substance as a diminutive.
It's fine as somebody's name, but it's too boring for me to really LIKE it as one.
I think it'd be a neat nickname for someone with initials L.E.

It’s okay. I’d prefer it to be a nickname, but it can stand alone. I have known people who’ve been named Ellie and it wasn’t short for anything.
Elly is my grandmother’s name, short for Elizabeth. I knew another, also elderly, woman named Elly and in a way she had similarities with my grandmother. Despite their name (which I think is cute, but maybe a bit silly) both women where strong, had a great sense of humour and loved their family and nature. For me, Elly/Ellie on its own is too cutesy and unfinished. I think she needs a longer former name to fall back on.
For me, it's forever associated with the blonde character Elly May Clampett on the TV show "The Beverly Hillbillies". She was a Southern hick, not very bright, naive and tomboyish. It's too cutesy for a standalone name for my comfort level. I prefer it as a nickname for Elizabeth, Eleanor, Elena, Eliana etc...
I don't like it or Elle, both nicknames to me
No, it’s childish and pure nickname.
I see it as more of a nickname.
I have a soft spot for this name. I think it can stand on its own - it sounds more mature than Dolly or Dotty, and those were full names at one point. I think anything could be standalone, even if its cutesy. A lot of vintage names for women were just diminutives like Dotty, Dolly, Molly, Sally or Betty. One day Ellie might be seen the same way. I look forward to finding out if Ellie will become a "grandma" name.
