Baby name?
I need help deciding a name. My Mother in law suggested a name, and didn’t expect to really fall in love with the name. I had the name Elle Sophie picked out for so long. But she suggested the name Elara (uh-laa-ruh). Elara Sophie sounds so pretty but I’m worried it might not match my sons name, Greyson. I don’t know what to decide on, and I’m so close to my due date and need an honest opinion

I think Elara Sophie is beautiful and works with Greyson. You could also get the nickname Elle. Congratulations!
I LOVE Elara and you still get Elle as a nickname :)
I think it goes with Greyson just fine!

I love Elara. I think it sounds fine with Greyson. I prefer Elara to Elle.
I think Elara and Greyson sound fine together. If you love it, use it. Don't worry too much about arbitrary matching rules, nobody will really care that much.
I guess everyone else thinks the names don't go together. I think they are fine. It would be a bit much if it was Greyson and Mason or Gary and Greyson. I think if you had an Alexander and Daisy that would seem a mismatch or a Franklin and a Daffodil. There are twins in my family that were Laverne Loise and Lavone Louis. I think there can be too matchy matchy so I guess I'm missing why everyone think they don't go well together.
I really like the name Evelyn. Thought it was too popular so I didn't go with it. All the other similar names I don't like nearly as much Elowen Ellory. I did find an Elwyn that I really liked but it means Elf friend and I couldn't do that as my other kids have really strong name meanings.
I really like Emmaline but I won't use it because we have done Biblical names for first names and family names for middle names. If you want to stick yourself in a box for naming future children than try to find names that go together but there is a reason why all the 19 kids and counting names all started with J. It was so nobody would be "left out". What does your partner prefer?

Neither Elle nor Ellara "matches" your son's name at all.
Elle Sophie doesn't sound nearly as good.

I agree that Elara Sophie is pretty and I prefer Elara to just Elle. Neither name is the same style as Grayson. If it's any consolation, in my many years of helping parents name their children, I've often noticed that they have different styles for each gender. Parents are usually more conservative when it comes to naming their sons but then are more adventurous when naming their daughters. So don't worry. You are in good company. My advice to you is simple: always choose a name you love.
I love Elara, but I don't think either Elara or Elle matches Greyson. Elle and Elara are both a little bit elegant/floaty, and Greyson is more down-to-earth. Ultimately it's more important to pick a name you like than one that matches your son's name but here's some random ideas.

I personally don't like the pronunciation on Elara but Elle is so short it could be a nickname for so many other names. You could name the kid Elara and call her Elle (L?) I think either work with Greyson so I wouldn't factor that in. No idea what either one means but that is important to me as well
