Michaux
I met a woman named Michaux today. I pronounced it as "mih-shoh" and she didn't correct me...What are your thoughts on Michaux?

Replies

Michelle seems much easier.
Yes much prefer Michelle
Seems pretty nifty.
I like Misha on a gal - there was one in my school when I was a kid, she was born 1969. Michaux reminds me of that, more than it does of Margaux. Also (in a very superficial way) it reminds me of Marceau. I'm not a fan of the -aux or -eau(x) endings for English usages, but Michaux doesn't seem as artificial as Margaux to me for some reason.
Does Michaux come from Louisiana by any chance?

I don't know; this was in Virginia. I did find out there's a place in Virginia called Michaux when I looked it up but don't know if that's related or a coincidence.
It reminds me of Michelle and Margaux. I like it, but it would probably get mispronounced a lot.
It reminds me of Michelle mashed with Margaux. I do like it. I feel like you could use it as a nickname for Michelle, Micheline and Michelina as well as a standalone name.
Michaux is interesting. I think it could grow on me. Michaux is the last name of a Belgian poet and a place name (a state forest in Pennsylvania).
