Exactly what Adelle said- it's both, click on the hyperlink! It was a guy's name, now more popular as a girl's name.Back to the original question... It could be used on both, but for a guy, I prefer Alexius, and for a girl, Alexia.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Alexis is a fairly popular girl's name. I wouldn't use it on a boy, as he might be teased.

Actually, Alexis is both a male and female name. I believe it was used as a male name before it was a "girl" name. Click the link to the name, and you'll see: Alexis. Same thing happened to Shannon, Vivian, Marion, Kelly, Madison, etc. They were all boy's names, but they became so common with girls that parents shy away from using them for boys, but they can be. Alexis is actually ranked 133 in popularity for US boy's names and even higher in other countries, so it is still widely used for boys.Edited to add in answer to the original question: I think it's fine for a boy, but I don't particularly like it for either.
What are the convulsions of a city in comparison with the insurrections of the soul?
Man is a depth still greater than the people.
