Being a ‘name nerd’, does a name put you off when it’s related to a name that you have bad associations with. E.g. loving but not using the name Jane because it’s related to the names Hans and John as they are people you strongly dislike. Or not using Christine, because it’s related to the name Carsten, the name of an abusive ex. How far do you take it? (I’m overthinking things today)

I’m not really affected by names that way. I can develop positive associations because of someone I like, but not really negative associations because of someone I dislike.
It would have to be the exact same name, same with a different spelling or extremely close like Sophie/Sophia.
We all have reasons that we like or dislike names. I wouldn't say you are over thinking it. Just your personal reasons and preferences.
Hi!I love nature-themed names so let me know if I understand:I love the names Ambra, Giada and Rubina but I would not use them because I noticed of and Amber, a Jade and a Ruby who are bad-tempered? Well...no.If do so every name would be risky.I only avoid names when I personally know a bearer.
I think you are overthinking more of a problem with names like Christina/Christine, John/Jonathan etc
I agree. I’m not sure what I was thinking yesterday, I was pretty tired and hadn’t thought things over.
