Baby name book
Have you ever seen a baby name book?

Replies

Yes I used to check them out at the library when I was a kid.
Yes many
I've had several. My favorite started coming apart but, fortunately, I was able to find a replacement online and ordered it. I'm not too fond of the flimsy ones that aren't well-researched regarding name meaning, history, usage, etc.
I own three. The first (and most general) one I got from my grandmother when I turned twelve (I specifically asked for it).
I went looking for them in the Rambam library of Tel Aviv about a year ago. I found a solid half dozen or so.
I only own one, though there are dozens out there. It is a UK volume, The Guinness Book of Names, and it includes place names, names of pubs and houses etc as well as human names. It's a very good read, and luckily I took my copy with me when my second baby was due. The name I'd wanted didn't suit her at all for some reason, so I just went down the alphabetic list until I found a name that did seem appropriate: fortunately it was Caroline, not Zoe!
I have sooooo many. They used to sell them for a few dollars in the grocery store!
And a dog name book :)
Oh yeah, I bought a dog name book too years ago. I have a cat name book as well.
sure ...They've been around for generations.
I have purchased over one hundred baby name books over the years (it's probably nearer to two hundred but I stopped counting after a hundred). I bought my first book when I was thirteen and since there was no Internet or baby name websites at the time, that's how I learned about names.
Yes, loads. I had one when I was younger.
