Re: Girl Names From the 1960's

Lisa - too simple for me, but a pretty sound. I don't like that it has no real meaning.
Donna - warm, steady, familiar, boring, I know too many. There are at least 4 60-something Donnas on my street alone.
Sandra - had a very weird experience with a Sandra once that has coloured my perception of this name beyond repair. It's a good name for a psycho biddy. Someone who looks supremely normal but has a hidden shrine to her neighbour's teenage son, that kinda thing.
Brenda - the ultimate Karen name, more Karen than Karen. I hate it, enormously.
Sharon - sweet, nice, relaxed, a bit hippy-dippy. Good 1970s Age of Aquarius energy. I love "Shar"
Denise - sounds bitchy and exacting, but in a positive way. Denise feels very competent to me. This one is more "1980s girlboss". Very shoulder pads.
Robin - aw, very cute. Sweet as pie, quiet and nurturing. A very friendly name.
Rhonda - loud broad alert! I love her. I picture hair that is too red, or peroxide blonde, frizzy as all get-out. Someone with no self awareness but in a fun way. The lady who was never scared to order pizza on the phone or ask the waiter for more bread.
Janet - 1970s meets mediaeval ages. A very calm name, like faded pressed flowers. I like it, I'd love to meet a little baby Janet.
Wendy - I wish I could love this name, but I knew such an awful one. Wendy is sharp and cruel.
Paula - a shy violet sort of name. Sweet and likable.
Sheila - another loud broad name, but not as fun as Rhonda. There's something about Sheila that feels neurotic. This is the perfect ex wife name. Looks like it belongs on every true crime documentary.
Suzanne - oddly bland and beige for me. I think I could really like it if I met an interesting one. It has potential to be.... Something.
