Cathy

Dont think I'd give ot a second thought.
I'd think it was unattractive.
My thoughts would be Wuthering Heights and Cathy from the comic strip.
After that? I'd be meh about it. I know so many Kathys (plus it's the name of my MIL) that it's still overused to me.
I do remember in the late 1990s a bunch of people naming their daughter Katherine with the nn Katie. I always wanted to use Katherine, unfortunately it's the name of my SIL. I'd probably have called her K/Kay, though.

I'd be delighted to meet a Catherine of any age who was known as something other than Kate, Katie, Kay ... Cathy is fine, and certainly preferable, but I'd be doubly delighted to meet a Catherine, nn Kitty.
Catherine with the nickname of Cathy is a multi-generational family name for me so it's very familiar. I prefer Kate as a nickname but I don't mind Cathy either. It has a friendly, girl-next-door vibe to it.
I forgot to mention that many Kathleens used Kathy with a K as a nickname.
My guess is the nickname Cathy declined when a doll called Chatty Cathy came out around 1960.

I like it, it seems fresh on a kid.
I'd think it was dated, but cute! Maybe even a little bit hipster/counterculture. A lot of the Boomer classics I'm usually bored of would seem unexpected and fresh on a little kid.
yes it's classic, but it isn't dated, at least to me. I have friends named Catherine, though none who go by Cathy. I love the name Cathy, it reminds me of Wuthering Heights.
