Wesley
What do you think about Wesley? And what era do you associate Wesley with?

Replies

I knew a Wesley who went by Wild Wild Wes. I like the name Wesley and the nickname Wes.
Idk I just think of my old teacher named wesley
I like it, it’s underrated and underused and that appeals to me.
Wesley is one of my favorite names!I don't associate it with an era so much as a single cultural touchstone: The Princess Bride (which came out in the late 80s). Granted, the character in that has the spelling Westley, but Wesley is far more practical.
It's a nice enough name. I do think immediately of Princess Bride, although I think the name in that may have been Westley. Been a long, long time since I read it but I recommend it.
Not my thing, but it’s not bad.
I love it. It's a favorite.I associate it mostly with the character "Wesley Crusher" of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", and named after the creator of the Star Trek franchise, Gene Roddenberry, whose full name was Eugene Wesley Roddenberry.
Where I live, it's pronounced with a z sound, but I've heard Americans say it with an s. I've never met anyone with the name. South Africa has a large number of Methodist churches, some of which call themselves Wesleyan Methodists, and that's the closest I've ever come to Wesley as a name. Not sure about the era: present-day, or perhaps mid-18th century, though I'm sure it wasn't used as a fn then: it was the surname of the founders of the Methodist faith.
I think it's cute and underrated. I'm glad it's being used again. To be honest, I don't associate it with a specific era, since it has never left the top 200.
I don't associate Wesley with anything, but it's not a bad name. I'd maybe consider it.
When I was a kid, there were these 2 boys, brothers, who had a family cottage on the same lake my family had a cottage. Every summer I'd hear of the exploits of these boys, who were like some magical archetype of boys having wholesome adventures. I remember liking them, and I hated most people at that age. Their names were Russel and Wesley, always referred to as "Russ & Wes".So Wesley has wholesome next door neighbour 80s or 90s youngster vibes. A little spoiled, but with a good heart.
That sounds horrible.
I think it’s cute and rather charming. I associate it with The Princess Bride so whatever time period that movie took place in is the era I associate it with.
I think it's fine
