Re: New Surname for Original Character
in reply to a message by Frozen5110
I was wondering why Jackie has a nickname and other family members have full names? Is his name John, Jack, Jackson or something else? Does his first name have some significance for the family?

Yep, Jackie is a nickname. His given name is actually Jude, but he hates it because older relatives would call him Judy when he was little. His middle name is McKenzie, but he hates it even more than Jude, so he came up with Jackie as his preferred name and it stuck. Only his parents and older relatives refer to him as Jude, and since his parents aren't particularly major characters in the world he's in, for all intents and purposes, his name is Jackie. The reason I say it's more significant than the original surname is mostly because I generally call him Jackie when I write with him.
Jude is one of my favourite names for boys. Oh well, it's too bad your character doesn't like it.
