Minster and more
Prowling through old Death notices, as one does, I found this remarkable lady: born in 1909 and married to Harold, her names are Minster Marie Edith. Another Lawrence, no indication of gender, is Kobi Comet, born in 1918. And, most enigmatically unless she was named after both grandmothers: Frances Marie Maria.

‘Minster’ is a word used for cathedrals and other large, important churches so I guess there is some sort of religious connection? Odd thing to name a person though.
I didn't know it was an actual word. At least it's better than Church or Cathedral as a name.
Quite so; and for that reason I suspect that what her parents really wanted was a daughter called Minnie, but also wanted her to stand out, and found a real, respectable word that started with Min.
