Thoughts on the name Leif for a boy?
Thoughts on Leif? (pronounced Layf)

I want to read it as “Leaf.”
It's a friendly name that's masculine but not macho. I like it!
It’s cool.
Leif is surprisingly popular for boys of a certain generation in my city. It's not the number one name or anything, but I knew 3 of them and every once in a while I'll come across another, all around my age (40s), so something was definitely in the water. It comes across as a "quirky 90s" name to me, so it has a nice nostalgia. It does get pronounced as something closer to "Leaf" much of the time, but I, at least, don't mind that.
Love it
I like numerous one syllable names from Scandinavia and Leif is among them. I like the look and sound of it. Leif may seem more modern but this is an ancient name.
The only way for English speakers to get used to the pronunciation and spelling of names from different cultures, is for someone to be brave and take the plunge. The more a name is used, the more familiar it becomes.

I think it's fine, though there may be pronunciation issues. It reminds me of Leif Erikson.
Excellent in Scandinavia. Elsewhere, there'd be major pronunciation issues.
Don't really like it
