Thoughts on the name Liberty "Libby" for a girl?
Thoughts on Liberty?

Replies

I knew someone named Liberty, they were a good friend of mine, and I really like it as a name! Libby is a cute nickname too and makes more sense for this name than others I've seen it be shortened from.
I think it’s nice, Libby is a cute nn. Berty could also be a nn.
I actually quite like it. Libby is a cute nn, though I prefer just Liberty.
I’m in the minority, but I think it’s ok. Not as namey as Felicity, but in a similar style. I also like Serenity. Libby brings it down to earth as a name.
If I met a Libby, I'd assume that she was an Elizabeth, like the other Libby people I've met. Liberty doesn't work as a name for me.
Libby is ok as a nn, but don't like liberty
I dont really care for Liberty or Libby, but I do like Libby more.I would just use Elizabeth if you wanted Libby to be a nickname.

Love Libby but prefer Liberta to Liberty.
It's a nice sentiment but not one that translates well to being a name, in my opinion. Ironically, the name Liberty feels very restrictive, rather one dimensional. It would be good for a character of a certain type, but for a real person it's tough to pull off.Funnily enough I've had that "jingle" for the Liberty insurance company in my head all day today.
Despite the fact Liberty is the name of a very good friend, don't like it, never have. Usually call her by her surname. Libby has always been a nn for Elizabeth to me, but not a favorite one.
The concept is great of course, but the sound isn't very appealing to me. Libby is so dowdy.
Also, I have heard the insurance commercial that goes "Liberty liberty liiiiberty!" way too often.
I would prefer Elizabeth with the nickname of Libby.
Not my cup if tea.
