In real life, her parents would have chosen the name they liked, not the name that would suit their baby as an adult. So, it doesn't really matter what name you choose. Mills & Boon publish very flimsy, stereotypical romance novels and someone I knew wrote to them and offered to become one of their authors. She got a detailed reply, but the crunch came when they said that their readers could always tell if the author didn't love that kind of story and was just writing for money. Among the details they gave her, one stands out: 'Don't name your heroine Barbara: it's a mother-in-law name.' Of course, it would have been a heroine name once. So, just pick any name at random; you can't go wrong.
