Lainey
Does anyone know why Lainey shot up by so much, bringing it into the top 100? What do you think of the name Lainey? What is your favorite spelling?

It's likely due to singer Laney Wilson, although I don't follow her, and the fact that if it's in with lots of other nickname type names as another user pointed out.
It certainly sounds modern & youthful, but I don't mind it at all. Lainey is probably my favorite spelling.
The only one I’ve known was actually an Alaina. She went by this as a nickname and she spelled it Lanie Not sure why Lainey as a given name has become popular. I actually think it’s cute though.

Lainey Wilson is star in country music with gaining momentum.
It's kind of similar sounding to Kaylee/Kaylee, Hayley/Haley, etc.
I like the spelling and I prefer Lainey to Ellie, which is also popular.
I don't like it. It's too much of a nickname to stand on its own to me.
Not sure. I once knew a Madelaine who was called Lainey. I prefer it as a nickname.
A lot of nickname-y names shot up in 2023, like Goldie, Scottie`, Birdie, Maisy, Jovie, Sunny, Lottie, Andie and other such names have just been gaining popularity in general, like Hattie and Elsie, so that trend might be a contributing factor in Lainey's popularity.
Great analysis!
Not a fan, prefer names that have "layn" in them like Elena and Helene. I guess Lainey would be the best spelling for it though. Laney looks like its missing something. I also prefer Laine and Layne to Lane without really caring for any of them.It might've shot up because it sounds cute. Also could be linked to Delaney, which has shot up too.

Ohhhh, that’s a really good point!
I also prefer Layne over Lane.
I was surprised by the sudden spike, but I can't find a reason as to why it rose. It has never been popular... until now.I actually like it, but I prefer it most as a nickname for Elaine (which also rose in popularity). It is alright on its own, though.
No clue why it shot up! It's a sort of inversion of Elaine. I have a niece whose full and only name is Laine, but to my knowledge she's never been called Lainey. I don't have a favourite spelling.
I like this name! I definitely prefer it as a nickname, maybe for Helena, Elena, Eliana or Eleni would be my favourite. I don’t like it as much as El, Nelly or Ela, but more than Ellie, Nell and Lena. Lainey would be my favourite spelling.
I don’t know why it shot up so much, though to me it does fit in with names like Mila, Luna, Amelia, Lily and Layla which are popular.
Maybe it's due to singer Lainey Wilson. When I googled the name it was the first thing that popped up.I'm not a fan of the name, but I can see how twangy folk could like it.
Don't like it especially with that spelling
