Linda is pretty. I don't get a tropical vibe.

I love it, I went to high school with one and she was born in the 1980s, I thought the name was too old for her then, but it's charming.

I like Linda more than, for instance, Sandra, Carol, Susan, Donna, Brenda ... they all seem very dated, but Linda still shines. I'd be more likely to use Belinda, I think, or even Lyndall, but they are all pleasant and pretty. Lindsey and Lindsay are more dated, IMO.I dont' see any of them as tropical: OK, Linda is Spanish, but the name is English suburbia.

I wouldn't characterize it as "tropical"—I'm from the U.S., where it was extremely popular for many years. I do like it, though! I find it retro, warm, and dependable. It's definitely not exciting, but it's earned respect.

I can see a "tropical vibe," if the woman is from say Mexico or Central America. Anyways, I think that Linda is a very gorgeous name, just as its meaning!

It doesn't sound tropical to me but that's probably because Linda sounds "white" to me and when I think tropical I think of indigenous people in the Carribean who generally don't look white. I used to see the name in the same way I saw Karen, Sharon or Helen. Very dated. But now I like it. I like Melinda more though because it starts off softer, then descends into velvet. :3 I like the NN Lindy for both genders very much. I've never heard a name that derives from another language that means "beautiful" that has not been beautiful. Ironically, Beauty, Beautiful and Pretty sound silly to me as names, if not very vain. Vanity actually makes a better name if going off sound alone.
