I think it's a unique confluence of:1. New/invented
2. Trendy/easily-dated
3. Easy to misspell (I still struggle not to write Neveah).
4. Religious (like Heaven, except more gimmicky)
5. Sacrilegious (intentionally the inverse of Heaven)People who dislike it because it's new or unfamiliar will probably get over it. If they dislike it for the other reasons, they might always dislike it. I didn't like it 15 years ago, but I got over it at least 5 fives years ago. In my case, it's related to associating Nova and Neva. It seemed less new once I associated Neva, and I don't like it less than Nova. I agree the sound is nice. I probably wouldn't mind it as my name. Eta: I have a cousin named Nevaeh FYI. I heard some non-name-nerds react to the name announcement/meaning as if it was sacrilegious...not that they cared, but that was their impression.
