Aelita is the name of a character in a show I'm watching. It was invented for a sci-fi movie, several decades ago.

To me, the meaning is what appeals the most. It's beautiful. I also like the spelling and the pronunciation.
I discovered this name through Code Lyoko and I have to say the creators nailed it with the character's name - it's genuinely sci-fi, not too out there and there's also the literary nod.

Pretty, but not all too interesting. It blends in with a bunch of other names like Amita, Ailia, Aella, Alita, Elita, Anita, Aelia, Arita, Lalita, Alitia, Elia, Alina, Elina, Alia, Aleta, Aletha. The 'Ae' thing makes it look kinda cool, but I personally don't find anything particularly striking. It's pretty enough, though.
I once loved Aelita for the Soviet sci fi connection, but now that it's associated with the recent character I feel weirdly disgusted by it. I don't know what's going on there, psychologically. The "meaning" is gorgeous.

in Russian, it would be ui-LYEE-tə. I love the meaning.
But what would the "ui" sound like? I know it says this here on the site, but I don't really get it.
like... uhy. u like fun, y like Yeti. at least that's my understanding based on my knowledge of Cyrillic!
So would that sound like eye-lee-ta together? It would make sense, because in Latin AE can be EYE, but not sure.
kind of. but eye starts with an "a" sound, whereas aelita would start with an "uh" sound
