Unusual Names from Library Donor Plaque (1996)
These were some unusual names I saw on a library donor plaque for a building built in 1996. So I assume in the 90s, these donors were probably already 40+ years old, most of them older. A couple of names like Vernal and Boise are regional. [F]
Allene
Arlene
Clela
Coral

I love Arlene, Myrna, Pearl, and Nyda out of the female names. As for the male names, I enjoy Carlton and Myron.
I like Clela, Coral, Myrna, Pearl, Avis (on a girl), Clarence, Weldon, Wendell, and Wilford.
Library plaques have some of the most interesting names. :)I guess Vernal is a place in Idaho, but it probably corresponds with the general Vern trend? I know a Vernelle who's from the southeast. The most interesting to me are Clela, Deeda, Verda, Boise, Glade, and (40+ in the 90s) Arlo. The closest I've seen to those IRL are Alverda, Shade, Glen, and Deedee.Coral, Arlene, Olive, Jerilyn, Clarence, Wendell, Wilford, and Vilate seem like a funky collection, too. I wonder if Vilate is the surname or if someone messed up Vitale.

I can confirm Vilate is a first name, since their last name is Whittle on the plaque. But yeah, could be a typo in the first name!
I like Myrna, Olive and Alexius best.
I like coral and Pearl
Female:
I've never seen Allene before. Could be pretty in Italian. Clela, Deeda, Jerilyn, and Nyda all feel like ship names (Clem + Zela, Dean + Reeda, Jeremy + Marilyn, Nyman + Rida, idk). I do like Myrle! And Olive/Pearl, but those are less interesting.Male:
Alexius and maybe Clarence are the only names I like. The others are very old-fashioned (obviously) but some are strangely interesting like VerDon, Avis, Arlin, and Glade.
