It's fine, but very non-descript. If you want to use Jack anyway, just call him Jack Thomas.
I didn't know this till I was grown, but apparently John Thomas is famous among classic-literature lovers as the slang word for penis used in "Lady Chatterley's Lover."
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!
