Re: Ashley or Alisha?

Ashley is the name chosen by a Taiwanese pupil of mine as her English name. Her English teacher in Taipei had 'named' her Susannah, which she disliked. Someone suggested Ashley, and she loved it. I had to reassure her that it has nothing to do with the product of combustion! She also loved the idea of an ash tree in a meadow.
I don't much like Ashley: just another lnfn, and rather dated by now. And Alisha, with that spelling, sounds like a sneeze. Alicia, if anything, but I much prefer and would use Alice.
