Monica. Monika is unEnglish and unnecessary. There is an adult Monique in DH's extended family who is known as Neekie, which is enough to put any thinking person off it for life.

Monika for the variation in sound and spelling. It seems more "exotic" to me for some reason... Monica is nice though. I'm not a fan of Monique, as most -ique names sound pretentious to me, and not that pretty. I guess I associate "ique" with "Wants to be French". I don't know where the bias came from, probably some people I saw in real life or TV that rubbed me the wrong way. Monique is not by any means ugly, however.
