If he's going by Grant no matter what, I would use Grant as a first name to keep it straight forward. I personally like Grant Nicholas and Grant Christopher, but I understand it might be difficult to choose. I suppose you could have more than one middle name, if you feel strongly that both the father and grandfather's names should be incorporated.
