Re: What are your favorite (and least favorite) masculine names on girls?
This is tough - there are a lot of them that I really dislike.
I like River, if that counts. On either, though.
I think these are not awful, although not my style: Royal, Marlowe, Dallas, Salem.
I don't like Clementine at all, but I think Clement could be cool as a gal name.
I'd be far more enthusiastic about Theo on a gal, than on a guy. Most of the "masculine names on girls" that I like are not currently in fashion, so I'm leaving that out.Jasper seems okay. Jasmine and Jaden make it seem more legit, plus the mineral thing. I prefer Jasper for a boy, though.
I don't care for Logan or Sawyer, not even for boys. But they don't seem feminine enough for a gal, to me. Esp. Logan.
I don't think Diamond is dainty. I think it makes a good name for a guy or a girl. Diamonds are not only sparkly gems.
I think Hunter works on either sex. The -ess ending is would be fanciful, especially considering it's a surname name and not meant literally to mean hunter. Women who actually hunt in real life don't generally call themselves, or get called, "huntresses." They're hunters. I've only seen animals and fictional / mythological characters called huntresses. I can understand why people don't like it on girls, but I just don't think it's bad at all. I'd rather be a gal Hunter than a gal Archer or Fletcher, by far. Or Palmer, or Parker, or Carter ... there are so many worse occupational surnames.- mirfak
