If you had kids during your awkward naming phase and/or childhood, what might have they have been called?
If I had a kid when I was still a kid they would have been named something like: Lanay (was set on this name for a future daughter from ages 8 to 11)
Cassie (was also a top favorite for childhood)
Carlie
Janie (not Jane)
Joanie
Jodie
Polly
Macie
Marcie
Trudy
Jenny
Maddie
Debbie
Katie
Nellie (was really into 2 syllable ie/y ending girl names
Sarabella
Sistine
Sissy
Haley
Kaley
Ava
Tonya
Rachel
Victoria
Cynthia
Shayla
Lori
Raven
Amber
Angelina
Paulina
Melina
December "Dee / Deedee"
September "Cici"
Savannah

Agalynn (not a typo, was supposed to be a smoosh of Adelynn and Agatha)
Mirabelle
Orabelle Kyle

Brayden
Anakin
Tristan
Milo
Edward
Bryce
Zackery
Bailey
Wesley
Weston
Damion

Darin
Trevor

Riley (was super team Riley for a while) My taste alternated between names of adults who I liked (Tonya, Lanay, etc.) Cutesy (Cassie), and Popular and Trendy (Brayden). Some of these are directly from old lists and some pulled from an approximation of what I was into back then. Some of these are totally fine and some of these make me cringe. Please rate my "Names I would Use" list & "Backup Favorites" list. Feel free to rate some of my other lists too if you have the time.

If we're going based on my "awkward naming phase," I'd consider that from 16-17 years old. My absolute favorite names were Jasper, Kylan, Ashton, and Blakely for a girl. As for a boy, you could bet that I would've named him Casey, Kelsey, Darcy, or Hollis. Nowadays, I would have definitely regretted these choices for a child.
I'm not exactly sure, but I remember when I was like 5 I thought Olivia was probably the best name out there, and I gave it to a butterfly. When I was like 7 I also liked the name Brittany, because it was the name of a cartoon character from a show I liked. Scarlet too, because of the minions movie lol.

A few years ago, I told my family if I had kids, I like the name River for a boy and Rowan for a girl. Then my mom said "So... they'd be rowing on a river?" I still like both names, but maybe not for a sibset...
Lol reminds me how I was really into Soren and my dad was like "will he always be sore? Why is that? Is he not stretching after working out?" Savage lmao
When I was a kid I was obsessed with the name Daphne. I even told people my middle name was Daphne. I guess Daphne would have been my kids name.
Good choice
My earliest naming memory, and I was probably eight years old or younger, was when I used to make up stories in bed before I went to sleep. I had a whole lot of stories with, yes, twin girls named, yes, Ashley and Rachael.
Imogen Amelia and Alonzo or Hunter Phoenix (because Phoenix Hunter was too wordy) were the first names I remember wanting to name kids. Imogen and Alonzo are still on my list, but much lower. Also Amelia and Alonzo were 100% for Doctor Who reasons lol. At one point I did want sisters Pandora and Aurora, thinking they were perfect together since they rhymed.
Probably something like Colleen Kaoru Wilhelmina or Deimos James Edward

Indra Amaranthe
Isolde Maeve
As a kid my grand-dad had an acquaintance from his time in the military, Morgan Aubrey Xxx. Thought it was the classiest, most gentlemanly name. Other names I had a thing for then were Derek, which I am now completely indifferent to, ditto Robin and Perdita.
Oh wow what a thorough list you have! The very first name I remember thinking "I will name a child this" was Aaron, when I was about...8. I didn't know any Aarons, and that double A just blew my tiny mind. Aaron Colin was the combination I'd picked, I think. Or Aaron Caleb? I can't remember now. Other names I can remember trying to stash away in my brain:Anastasia
Caroline
Georgia
Ruby
Jamesina
Marian
Fern
Beatrix "Bix"
(And of course Silence and Kindness, as previously discussed in the other thread!)Denison
Rex
Gurney (It was the surname of someone I admired)
Béla
James
I remember I named a china doll Eliza because it was the most beautiful name I could think of. I was pretty young. These are names from my oldest posts/polls (2006-2007, when I was 17, so I guess if I had a kid in high school, this would have been my list):Raphael
Gabriel
Asher
Tomas
Myles
Milo
Lucien
Liam
Alaric
Bryan
Benaiah
Henry
Harry
Solon
Erasmus
Shalom
Philemon
Zebedee

OMG you made me remember I was also into Mirabelle and Orabelle!
In adolescence, some of my favorite names were Clairice (this spelling), Carrington, and Rigantona, so... probably those three. Oh, and D'artagnan.

When I was a schoolgirl, my favourite subject was British history (particularly Kings and Queens). I read a lot about the late Queen Elizabeth II and she had a sister Princess Margaret Rose. Inspired by her, my favourite name for awhile was Margaret Ann. Then I made up a name by blending two names together - Stashaleigh (yikes, how embarrassing). The only male name I remember that I liked was Joshua.
Thankfully, my tastes changed as I matured and began to study names more seriously. Over the years, I've spent a fortune on baby name books. I stopped counting after I reached 200 books. Even today, I still get a thrill when new ones are released. Of course, most people get their information over the Internet these days but old habits die hard.
I love baby name books. I own like 7 I believe. That's it! If I ever enter into the Adult Entertainment industry, I am definitely using Stashaleigh as a stage name lol
For girls, I was obsessed with Carrie and Raina when I was kid. Those would've been their names. I don't even like Carrie very much anymore, so I'm not sure why I did back then. For boys, Xavier, Max, and Owen were my top obsessions. I HATE Owen now, so that's quite ironic.

My own taste then was largely influenced by people and characters I liked at the time, perhaps you knew a Carrie person or character you liked?
I do like Carrie Underwood, and I loved a radio personality named Keri (who I probably thought spelled it Carrie).
