Abilene

I really like it and think it would make a nice alternative to Abigail, but I wouldn't use it myself. The middle part of the name makes me hesitate, but it does sound very beautiful despite of that.
I think it's pretty, like a cool twist on Abigail!
All I can think of is Abilene.
I read an article about Eileen the other day and the fact that it's coming back in popularity. It will be interesting to see if that applies to all lene/leen names or just Eileen.

I like a similar name Aibileen, pronounced "A bah lean" a character in the novel/movie The Help
The leen sound is pretty dated. Abilene sounds very faux-Western to me, like a fictional character more than a real person.
In the book and movie "The Last Picture Show" there is a character, a rich oilman named Abilene. It's never clear if it's his first or his last name or just a nickname.
In the book "The Good Brother" a woman has two sons, both named after the places she met their fathers in; one is Abilene and the other is Dallas.
So you can see why it has a fictional vibe to me.

I love it so much. I love the twang of it, and the fact that it's a Biblical place name. So much more interesting and romantic than Abigail, which I've never been fond of.
Thanks.
I love it! adding it to my list.
