I'm not surprised because people seem to be obsessed with naming their kids surnames regardless of gender, but I think Carrington should be male if it's going to be a first name at all. I get why someone might use it though because "she can go by Carrie and that's a girly name".
For some reason Kerrington seems more usable for a girl than Carrington to me, although they both seem more masculine.
