I love it! I got introduced to it through ATLA. Turns out it's one of the most common names in Tibetan culture. And the Dalai Lama's name.
I think it's not trendy in America because people aren't familiar with it and they don't really feel culturally comfortable using it. I have no idea what connotations naming my child "Tenzin" would connote to Tibetans or people who know more about Tibet than I do. I'd totally use it on like a pet though. I feel like it wouldn't be too sacrilegious because I never noticed an outcry about the ATLA character.
