Insight onto how a name flows??
Does flow affect you a lot in a name combo?
For example, Ruby Juliet vs Juliet Ruby. Ruby Juliet flows so much better, it makes me wonder if I keep it and have her go by a middle instead? I welcome your insights. Is Juliet Ruby that bad of a flow?

Wow thank you all! I felt sure 99% of people would say Ruby Juliet is only way to go, and it's the opposite. I guess this shows it doesn't matter all that much!
Eh, I think flow is often overrated. I suspect many of us here focus so much on it because our interest in names is conceptual and we like to tinker with things in the theoretical stage. But like Anneza points out, the first name+middle name is so rarely used, it hardly matters in reality. And I agree with Manipura that it's honestly the first name + surname flow that matters most.Juliet Ruby is absolutely fine!
Juliet Ruby sounds much better to me. But flow isn't really an issue. How often do you say someone's fn and mn together? Once or twice a year? Not a big deal at all. Put the name you'll be calling her by, in front.
How often? In my family every single time you got in trouble. So quite a lot.
Juliet Ruby is better than Ruby Juliet in my opinion.Ruby Juliet is kinda rhymey and phrasey, and that makes it a little gimmicky and glitzy for my personal taste. Reminds me of "Ruby Tuesday." Juliet Ruby has a rhythm that draws attention away from the rhyme, and the pleasantness of Ruby is set-off more. I guess if it were a double-name (meant to be always said together), then Ruby Juliet would seem much more glib and friendly than Juliet Ruby. But if it's just a fn & mn combo, I'd prefer Juliet Ruby.
I didn't even notice the rhyme, but that's a good point.
I think Ruby Juliet flows better but both are good
I think Ruby Juliet has a better flow, but neither is "bad".I saw someone make an analysis the other day that good flow has to do with where the emphasized syllables are. Otherwise, I'm not really sure what the science/reasoning is behind the flow of a name.
I think Juliet Ruby flows better than Ruby Juliet. It's subjective and also is affected by the surname. Maybe Ruby Juliet would flow better with a long surname, and maybe Juliet Ruby would flow better with a short surname. In almost all cases I don't think it matters beyond the abstract anyway because full names are rarely said all at once. The main thing I'd want to avoid is the end sound of the first name running into the surname (ex. Iris Smith), but I feel like even that's nitpicky.
