Do you think timeless names are overrated?
To be honest, I think the category ‘Timeless’ itself is bit overrated. (Although there are some timeless names that I like) But the individual names of the categories seem to be criticized for being boring. So I'm not sure either way.

Depends on the name.
I think timeless names are usually overrated. The more timeless a name is, the higher it will be rated. When a name is rated highly for centuries straight, it becomes timeless. It's an interesting cycle. Here are timeless names that I care for:
Daniel
Christian
Olivia
Michael
Michaela
Ariel
Thomas
Adam
Johnathan
Nathan
Names I don't care for (this can range from indifference to strong dislike):
Steven
John
Mary
Susan
Deborah
Rebecca
Vanessa
Veronica
Eve
Eva
Chris
George
Georgia

Timeless, Boring, Classic, Out-dated, Safe are like houses in the same neighborhood. Totally different for the people that live there but really their addresses are one number apart lol
I do think that many people worry too much about wondering if a name will be dated in the future. I think trying to stick with classic, timeless names is sometimes done not really out of a love for those names, but in an effort to avoid embarrassment.
I can understand that desire, but I also think it's kind of sad. It's a shame.
Being able to see the spirit of the age reflected in people's names is really SO COOL. I am currently going through archived records that my city has released and let me tell you, it is way more fun to come across the dated names. But then, that's me looking at it through a historian's lens.
I guess timelessness IS kind of boring, because usually timeless names are very stable and unchanging. But for some people that can be comforting.
Maybe the thing that I find overrated is the idea that a timeless name is somehow better than a trendy one. I'm even guilty of that kind of thinking sometimes!

You ask a lot of interesting questions, but they are usually so general that it's hard to answer them.
As to timeless names, well, some I like, some I don't, some feel overused or not-thought-out, some don't.
They are like the LBD: Little Black Dress. I personally think the LBD is vastly overrated and that it isn't flattering to everyone, and yet it's so ubiquitous that if you go to a dressing-up event wearing one, you won't be noticed for your classy/timeless choice of outfit because nearly all the women there will be wearing a black dress. This is all right if you want to play it safe and be unnoticed, or if you really like the LBD for its own sake and it looks good on you. But if you want to stand out, or the dress makes you look sickly because not every complexion looks good in black, or you just plain don't know what to do or are just wearing it because that's all you ever wear to these things ...

Thank you. Then I need to think about more interesting question to post.
I think there will always be people who find timeless names boring because they’ve met tons of people with the name and get tired of hearing/seeing it. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re overrated, more like overused.
Thank you.
