Some names from Greek mythology...
I saw a lot of threads about Greek mythology and how these names are rising quickly, so I wanted to know your opinion on these names :)Which ones do you think could become popular next? I would say that Chloe and Zoe already had their time in the sun (love Chloe, though!), Penelope is currently popular (and Phoebe was/is in the UK). Athena is rising quickly and so is Atlas. Persephone is rising, too, so is Hermione (behind the top 1000).Please comment, I always love reading your comments :)Amalthea
Atalanta
Eurydice
Persephone
Hermione
Clio
Chloe (just because I love it so much)
Phoebe (same)
Antigone
Ariadne
Thalia
Pandora
CalliopePerseus
Apolloopen for suggestions as well ;)

Amalthea - I love this, reminds me of The Last Unicorn
Atalanta - I've always thought this would be a cool name for a dog who likes to run
Eurydice - I like this as a middle name for first names that are simpler but still read as romantic/dramatic
Persephone - Similar to Eurydice, but I'd expect Persephone to be more likely to work as a first name
Hermione - I love this one although I think of Harry Potter first
Clio - It's fine, but I prefer Kleio. Clio looks incomplete and reminds me of Cleo, which looks more stable
Chloe - I don't like this as much, it's too pedestrian compared to the others
Phoebe - It's sweet and I like that it's also a bird
Antigone - Great as a middle name
Ariadne - I love this one, I used to think it was only middle name material but it's grown on me as a first name
Thalia - I like it, but the pronunciation I like isn't listed here so I don't know if it's weird or not (THAH-lee-uh)
Pandora - Good, I think of this more as a cat name but I'd like to see it on humans
Calliope - Very pretty, perfect balance of whimsical and usable
Perseus - I like this and want people to use it more
Apollo - Same here I also like:
Athena
Gaia
Rhea
Artemis
Cassiopeia
Ourania
Briseis
Megaera

I love Greek myth names. I read on a Reddit naming thread that a lot of people find these "pretentious" but I don't care. Atlas has had a lot of spotlight for years now, at least online.I'm seeing more and more of Athena, and I'm increasingly loving it myself. I love, love Persephone as well.I used to have love for Penelope but it's really fallen out of favor with me. I much, much prefer plain ole Nell.Ariadne is pretty and golden and Antigone is a name I've been drawn to for a long time.I don't know how drawn people will be to much of these names. There's a lot of tragedy in the myths.
I like Athena, Hermione, Clio (although MUCH prefer the look of Cleo), Phoebe, & Ariadne. I also really *love* Hera, possibly my favorite, apart from Athena. (:
The thing about Chloe and Zoe is that most people in the UK don't know they're mythological names. They just fit the sound pattern of other popular names like Katie, Miller, Bobby and Archie. I wouldn't put them in the same bracket as Apollo or Zeus.Daphne might also come back in as it was popular in the past. Again, it is easier to pronounce than something like Andromache.
Yes, Daphne is also a great name!
I meant Millie, not Miller!
Calliope, Ariadne, Apollo, Persephone, and Thalia are rising in popularity for sure!
Most Greek names seem…too pretentious to me. That, and they are a lot of syllables and may be hard to spell and pronounce for people not intricately familiar with the Greek myths. I think as a usable name, I hope none of them become en vogue. That being said, despite my hopes, I think Apollo will continue to rise in popularity. Chloe will fall, and perhaps Thalia, and the rest will be about the same.

Personally, I'm not interested in names that I feel have a strong connection to mythology. However, as some Greek mythology names become mainstream, I think my perception of Greek mythology names may change.
