Surname, and should remain so.
I'm just not into Mc- first names. Any of them.
It's funny how some McNames work in the first name spot, and some don't.
I'm sure it's subjective, like for me McIntyre doesn't work because I know so many people with the last name McIntyre. So it feels awkward out front, like calling someone Johnson Jones or Brown Smith. I'm just so used it being a last name. If it became popular as a first name, I'm sure I'd get used to that too, but at the moment it feels as comfortable as an inside out backwards sweater.

Considers it a surname, and I will always see Joey McIntyre of New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) before me when I see this one, since they're my all-time favorite Boyband.
However, it could go as a first name is that was what you would want it be as.

Reminds me of Reba and tyres. Although I do like some Mac names, this is not one of them.
I prefer this as a surname, not a given name
