What do you think of the name Pip? Male or female?Do you think a boy named Pip will be teased?

It could be related to Pippin (I think of a hobbit's NN and an apple type), Pippi (Longstocking, a cartoon daughter of a sailor), and Pippa (as a British NN for Philippa), but mostly it seems like Pipsqueak.I think of the (sarcastic) song "In an Operetta" in which it's the fake name of a princess living as a cabin boy on a pirate ship.I think of "pip pip" which seems silly, old-fashioned, and very British.

I expect a boy, and I don't know if he will be teased, but I would be tempted to make fun of people who'd name their son Pip (especially if Pip is his actual full name) in real life. It's like Jonty or Lilibet. Eyeroll and barf emojis. I also don't like Pippa. Flip is a better Philip / Philippa nickname imo. Seems less stuckup and more natural, at least.
It's a nickname for Philip.
And a nickname Philippa
I love Pip and can see it on either a male or female but my first thought will always be female after Agatha Christie. In one of her novels she had twins Pip (Philippa) and Emma. The fact that Pip is ambiguous was part of the story. I also love the idea of female twins known as Pip and Kit but with the given names Philippa and Katrina.
I just read A Murder Is Announced and it’s why I posted this! I used to love Peregrine “Pip”, but now that I’ve read AC I like the idea of a female Pip. I love Pip & Kit together!
I used to have a stuffed oppossum that I named Pip; he was a boy. I see this name as more masculine, but it's unisex, imo. I don't like it as a standalone on a real person, but I see it on a man (more than a woman).
I see it only as a nickname for Pippa
Honestly, I think I would have no clue if it was a boy or girl, but would think it was a dog or cat before a person.
I think feminine and only as a nn
Hi!Pip seems cool to me because seems lively and could be unisex, derived from Philip / Philippa but also from Piper, Priscilla, Percy, Paul, Presley ... Any name with a P can be shortened in Pip so it's trendy too depending on what P name Is popular. About namesakes here in Italy we have the same issue about Pippo. Pippo in Italy is a popular culture name too because Pippo is the name daily used instead for Goofy (Pippo does not mean "goofy", it was just chose to translate the name). Aside of this many people goes by Pippo instead of their full name (Giuseppe "Pippo" Baudo, Filippo "Pippo" Inzaghi...).I like Pip as standalone name.
I think its unisex but leans more towards boys. Pip might be teased because it's so short and sounds a bit cartoonish, but I don't think it'll be because its girly. I prefer it as a nickname. I can't see this as a standalone.
