Re: Georgiana and Donovan
Donovan makes me instantly hear 'Jennifer Juniper' playing in my head. Not a bad singer, not a bad song, but nothing to get excited about. In today's world, Donovan is a better choice than Donald if one wanted a Don son. But I don't. Georgiana bugs me. The whole pronunciation thing - just because some prominent person in about the 18th century pronounced it jor-JANE-a, a few other less prominent people still perpetuate the nonsense. But, that aside, JOR-jee-ANN-a is very long and I don't enjoy the rhythm; I have the same problem with ISaBELLa etc. For everyday use, it's a non-starter. I like Georgina a lot, and it shortens comfortably to something sounding like Jean, which is a family name, or to Gina, which is rather pretty.
