I really hope Charlene makes a comeback at some point, maybe because it's similar to Charlotte? Jolene and Marlene are also gems. Eileen I'm not a huge fan of, though.
-Een names are too nasal for me.
I don't like Eileen, Colleen, Doreen, Lorene, or Maurine.
Pauline is okay.
Jolene is pretty.
I think they will trend again soon because they might fit the vintage category.
I don't think I've ever met a person with an -een name.
Come on, Eileen...My favourites are Clementine, Léontine, and Valentine.
I think Eileen is a great name! I'm usually not an "een" name fan, but I make an exception for Eileen.
I think that Eileen is a pretty name, I have no idea when "een names" will trend again, I love "een names," and I've met one (54 year old) Eileen.Edit: As for "een names," I love Celine, Kaylene, Charlene, Marlene, Darlene, Norene, and Dorene.

I'm surprised by how popular Eileen is (in the U.S.)! I guess the love for Isla/Ayla helped.I like Eileen. My favorite "-een" names are Albertine, Amantine, Bernadine, Celandine, Celestine, Delphine, Eglantine, Ernestine, Geraldine, Helene, Irene, Leontine, Leopoldine, Martine, Melusine, Rosaline, Rosine, and Thomasine.
Eileen was ruined for me from the song tbh.I’ve never been a fan of een names tho, I prefer -line.I’ve known a few but all were about my moms age (plus my mom)
Eileen is one of my favorites.Of other feminine *-een* names on my list is:
Colleen
Kathleen
MaureenNever met anyone named any of those, as they're not Danish names.I have one male name of that criteria: Steen. I've met a few of those in my lifetime, as it was a name used a lot in my generation, that one and the Sten variant, and those before mine (1977).
I think een names will have a Renaissance. I'm seeing hints of people favouring names that I associate with kind of dorky 60s or 70s vibe, and the eens fit right in with that sort of crowd. My husband likes the name Eileen, so the fans are out there!I could see stuff like Francine, Helene, Nadine, Janine, Jolene and Kathleen making a comeback. Maybe not a huge one, but something. Some of the een names have a hipster sort of ring to them. They are daring in their awkward realness. I've known a few eens. A young Maureen, a young Selene. A Colleen, a Jeannine. I have a great aunt Doreen. Originally I was not a fan of these names, but seeing other people appreciate them is changing my mind. They do have a certain pluck that I genuinely admire.
Agree. There's an Eileen on my family tree, born in the 19teens or 19twenties. Not a name I like, but better than her sister Edna. I've met a couple of Colleen people who are now in their 70s, as is the only Doreen I know. I don't like the look or the sound of any of them, and the longer they stay undisturbed in the past, the better. By the way, the Doreen I know is actually Dorothy Doreen Lastname; the explanation, such as it is, was that her father had very fixed ideas.
