Tarek
I have come across this name in two different places over as many days, so I think that's a sign to ask what people here think about it!I had never heard or seen this name before, but when I looked it up I was delighted by the meaning and the fact that it's another name for the morning star. That's special. I'm a sucker for star names. What do you think of Tarek? Do you prefer Tariq?

I think it's ok
I like it a lot, but it's awkward for me to pronounce a qaf (the q ending, which isn't a sound that exists in English), and I feel less bad about anglicizing the K spelling because that's more ambiguous, although Tariq looks more sleek and eloquent to me. I'd spell it Tarik if I was using it.

Sure Tarek is a handsome name, but with that spelling I’d like it pronounced as it looks. If I wanted to use the traditional pronunciation I’d use the spelling Tariq, which is also handsome on a person of that heritage. The meaning is intriguing.
I prefer Tariq - mostly because its spelling is more intuitive to me. Either way, I think the meaning is quite poetic.

It's very handsome, though that spelling prompts me to pronounce it like Marek. I prefer it to Tariq (which I intuitively pronounce "tuh-REEK").
I like Tarek, but prefer Tariq! Tarek has a Star Trek vibe to me, which isn't good or bad but it would influence how I'd use it vs. how I'd use Tariq.
