I love it! It's my mom's name.
I like it, though I wouldn’t use it. I’d love to meet a little girl named Heidi though.
It's so cute and very pretty name but it sounds like "hide-y" for me.
Yeah, when I was a kid I assumed this name had something to do with the verb "hide" somehow. When I first heard of a character called Heidi I sort of pictured a story about hiding from something.
Okay
tbh I feel like it will get easily mispronounced to "HEY"di instead of "HI"di
I find it clunky and I don’t see the appeal. I’ve known several.
It feels very stereotypical. Her brother is called Hans, she has blonde braids, and chops wood with a huge axe (and impressive forearms).
I would have agreed with this until I started meeting Heidis in real life. I read the book as a kid but never met any Heidis until I was around 21, but then I suddenly started meeting them and now it feels less stereotypical and more like any regular person's name.
That's fair - I've never met one, I imagine my perception would be different if I have!
I've known a few. All of them very nice people. I prefer it to Adelheid, though usually I prefer the full name to a nn. Unlike most nns, Heidi seems OK for adults as well as children; even elderly adults.
Love it
I think it's very cute, spunky and cheerful, entirely feminine without a lot of fuss to it.
It’s cute! It kind of has a cottagecore aesthetic. It was one of my faves when I was a kid so I feel a sense of loyalty to it haha.
I think it ages really well.

I think it's really cute but also competent. Some cute names come with a lack of confidence, but Heidi knows what she's doing. She's just usually very cheerful about it.
Heidi also has this subtle but satisfying warm 70s filter to it. It's not dated exactly, not in a clunky or tired way. Its familiar and friendly. It just has a nice relaxed golden glow, a late afternoon sort of name. Some 70s names in particular give me this feeling. Heidi, Holly, Bonnie, Robin, April, etc.... They all have a charmingly laid-back agelessness.

I've always found it grating and juvenile, I'm afraid.
