What do you think about your name?
My name is very common among my age or younger than me. So easily recognize it, but I felt like it didn't suit me. But I don't hate my name itself. The reason I'm not satisfied is because it doesn't suit my personality, My feelings about the name itself is neutral.

I like my name because I picked it. I never had good associations with my birth name and it never suited me.
I really don't like my name. I always wish my parents had given me a different one, or that I had changed it myself when I was younger. My name is very youthful and short. It's not conducive to nicknames, so there's not much I can do with it.
I love it. It suits me. I wouldn't change it for anything.
I like my name now. I picked it. Sometimes I am not sure if it fits me well, but it's much better than my birth name, which always felt wrong on me.
Love my name, can't imagine myself wearing another one.
I could go on about my name. I actually wrote a psychology paper on this very subject and how it influenced my life for my general psych class back in college. I have a love hate relationship with my name. There are times I love it, and other times I hate it. It was the third most popular name my year of birth. Things I love about it:
- History behind the name. Its origins fit who I am perfectly. I'd say it was destiny, but my parents had chosen it without that particular knowledge.
- The reason my mom advocated for my name. Its nickname is a very popular song by Barry Mantilow and its full form is a popular hit from the band Boston. Mom loved both of those songs.
- It's easy to pronounce in many of the Latin-based languages so it translates very well when needed.
- Can translate well from "fun" and "spunky" to more "serious" and "adult"Things I hate about it:
- Insanely common and in certain context can feel very dated. I rarely hear anyone with my name under the age of 25.
- Because it's so common, it can come across as more vanilla-esque rather than anything more exotic or rich.
- How easy it was to use it in bullying. Even as an adult. My name: Amanda
Some people expect me to be younger than I am, though not by much. My parents were ahead of the trend. I like my name, but not its nicknames. My mother felt the same about her name, which I gave to my daughter: she happily uses the nickname her grandmother preferred.
Thank you for your comment
I like it well enough - it's versatile and international. But also so extremely common.

I think my name is a joke. Every part of it.My first name's pretty common among people my age or younger also, so it's not because it's unrecognizable. I don't really wish I had another name either.
