I would say I liked this name even if it wasn't my mother-in-law's name. The een ending is not in fashion now, so we have sour-faced, prissy Charlotte instead or painfully tomboyish Charlie. Charlene is soft and pretty but also down to earth and practical. Like my MIL.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

Do you think Charla could come into fashion? It vaguely sounds like an old person to me but it also sounds like it should be popular? "syllable +la" is pretty popular and Charlie and Charlotte are both popular. Maybe it's the "arla" specifically that sounds old.
