Dora
I've posted several polls recently about Dora combos, and they don't attract a lot of enthusiasm. Are people still bothered by the association with Dora the Explorer? Do you have an alternative reason for disliking Dora? It's becoming one of my favorite names, I think (though still eclipsed by Eudora).
Some combos:
Dora Gwendolen
Dora Penelope
Dora Magdalen
Dora Philomel
Dora Peony
Dora Millicent / Melisande
Dora Eugenie / Eugenia
Dora Eulalie / Eulalia
Dora Celestine
Dora Phoebe
Dora Mathilde
Dora Saffron
Dora Leontine
Dora Lavender
Dora Melisande
Dora Thomasin

Dora the explorer is the original and the best
My mother knew an old lady who was always called Dora; it turned out that her full name was Deborah, presumably pronounced deBOREuh rather than DEBoruh or DEBruh. I prefer Deborah to Theodora, but I'd prefer most things to Dora. Dorothy, for instance, or Dorothea would please me much more.
The explorer was my first thought, very dated
I really like Dora. Since I was young I thought Dora would be a nice way to honour one of my uncles who died young, because Dora was his drag queen name. But would that be weird? It made sense to me back then.
I grew up without Dora the Explorer so it's not a problem for me, but maybe it would be for some. I think Dora will become more common as Theodora starts to rise in popularity (which I am certain it will).
Dora is friendly and warm and competent. I love these of your combos:
Dora Gwendolen, amazing
Dora Eugenie, very cute
Dora Phoebe!
Dora Peony is adorable, what a little gnome name this is.

Eudora is awesome.
Dora is better than Cora and Nora, in my opinion. I think people are bothered by the DtE association, though - and knowing that they are, makes me less enthused about Dora. But if not for that, I'd have shortlisted it long ago ... with nn Dory (also ruined by pop culture).
If I really think about it, I could decide that it's pretty stupid to pass up the name because of the cartoon. It's a normal name, not invented for the cartoon, and the cartoon association isn't really bad or humiliating ... I guess a young Dora would be glad to see that her name is cool enough to give to a character and isn't completely unheard-of. Taunting over something like that, would not last long.
Dora names have a slightly witchy vibe. Like Endora from Bewitched. I think it's good or neutral, but some might not.
I like Dora Magdalen.
Dora Clarice
Dora Viveka
Dora Marcelline

I do imagine lots of people associate it with Dora the Explorer. I never watched it growing up - I just find it a bit boring. And reminiscent of doors. I prefer Theodora, Pandora, Isidora, and Doris.
I really like your Dora Penelope and Dora Leontine. Dora Florentina and Dora Ludovica come to mind.

I like Dora. I don’t really associate that strongly with Dora the explorer, despite being a child while it was popular. Other people might though.
I prefer it as a nickname for Isidora.
