I REALLY like this name and would use it. WDYT? Gary as a nn?

I have always been fond of Gareth. I’ve never met one. I would not personally choose Gary as a nickname. I would go with Gare or even Rhett/Reth, however, always possible Gary comes along organically. I grew up with uncles called Gary, Kerry, and Larry. My mother would have been Barry. Larry married into the family, and Kerry has always gone by Butch. All in their 70s+ now so I associate it and the sounds of it to that generation.

I love Gareth, hate Gary lol

Given enough sons, I would use Gareth happily. I don't think it needs a nn at all, and I don't find Gary at all appealing.

I think it’s very lovely! I associate it very much with Jareth, which I enjoy, and the -eth ending is very underrated I feel :D I would probably lean towards Gare as a NN as Gary is not my style, but some people suit it very well!

I know two adult Gareths and neither have a NN.Gareth feels medieval and fun, Gary seems like a middle aged man.
