Names of Polish politicians
Looking at names of candidates for the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament. I've included those I found the most interesting – what do you think of them? Do any stand out?
Lilit: Armenian
Jan Longin (YAN LAWN-geen): Longin is the Polish form of Longinus
Walentyna (va-len-TI-na): Polish from of Valentina
Denis Janusz (DEH-nees YA-noosh): Janusz is very common among Polish men of a certain age. Denis very much isn't
Cezary Edwin (tseh-ZA-ri ED-veen): Edwin is far from common in Poland
Marek Antoni (MA-rek an-TAW-nee): Mark Antony. His surname is also Marecki, which is derived from Marek – so a bit like a John Johnson.
Piotr Ludomir (PYAWRT loo-DAW-meer)
Magdalena Ludwika (mag-da-LEH-na lood-VEE-ka)
Franciszek Bonawentura (fran-CHEE-shek baw-na-ven-TOO-ra): Francis Bonaventure
Mahbub Hossain: Bengali
Mira Jowita (MEE-ra yaw-VEE-ta)

Lilit is cute.
Longin is a pretty cool mn.
Walentyna is okay, I'm actually surprised at it not gaining popularity with all the other vintage names.
Denis Janusz - from what I can tell Denis is his surname. As a first name, it would really be surprising and I would suspect a Ukrainian or Russian parent.
I feel like Edwin is rare but consistently used. I like it. I don't like Cezary, though.
Marek Antoni Marecki is just so much.
Ludomir is hilarious. Kinda nice though. I could warm up to it.
Magdalena Ludwika is what I would do - a modern fn and a mn after grandma.
Franciszek Bonawenturas parents either wanted some pizzazz but were too afraid to have that in the first name or it's another grandparent mn.
I'm not equipped to have an opinion on Mahbub, all I can say it works ok in Polish so that has to be enough for me.
Mira Jowita sounds kind of stereotypical to me. Even though Mira is pretty rare, the combo to me brings to mind Mariola or Jolanta.'
If I had to make my own combo from these names I'd go for Edwin Ludomir.

Lilit definitely stands out, so does Bonawentura because Bonaventura is so… out there and Italian?
What’s Mahbub’s background, is he second generation?

Mahbub was born and raised in Bangladesh, apparently he only came to Poland after university. And from what I can tell, Lilit was born in Armenia.
