Dean and Gene wdyt?
l recently met a 60+ year old Dean in PA who said his name was no longer used. I like it and think it will be back soon.

for me, Dean is a good name with positive associations. I could see it becoming more popular, especially with the recent trend in Anglo girls' names towards more old-fashioned choices; something similar might happen, or already be happening, with boys' names. Gene is not for me, the associations towards DNA, chromosomes and the like are too strong, but I do like Eugene. the feminine Eugenie and Eugenia are also good in my books.

I don't much like either one. Gene is better than Eugene, but sounds fem, and Dean is surname plus occupation, which is too much for my simple tastes. I knew a Dean who'll be in his 40s by now.

I like Dean and we were going to use it. Yes I see it being used, but not Gene

I really like the name Dean! I might just have positive associations, but I think the look and sound is nice, it’s clean. I’m more neutral on Gene, maybe with a different spelling?
