Yeah, I think it's nice the way Shirin, Charlotte, Shannon can be. I do prefer Shirin, but it's not really that different...I think it sounds quiet or self-contained but also like someone generally good-humored who enjoys the small things in life.It's not popular like Charlotte has become (Charlotte and Sharon are both grandma names to me), and I guess it's not as regal/classic sounding, but I don't consider it as dated as I do Cheryl and Karen.
