I don't really like Tanith. Partly because I feel unsure how to pronounce it (tah-neet, tah-neeth, tah-nith, tah-nit, tan-ith)...I'd feel less awkward with Tanita or Tansy. Partly because it sounds like a food to me (I guess because of tannins?) or like a country in a fantasy novel, more than it does a goddess or human name. Maybe it also reminds me of Lilith and Tanner - names I dislike. Next to Sonia, it looks to me like someone thought of Sonia & Tania then searched for a more adventurous Tan* name. I guess it could remind some people of Edith, Tabitha, Tamara, Janet, which seem more natural with Sonia imv.I've never actually come across a Tanith.I like Sonia.
