I don't care if cousins are named exactly the same thing.
I do pronounce Ava and Eva the same and consider them basically the same name, like I would Katelyn vs Caitlin. Technically Eva is EH-vah, but in my accent that's pretty indistinguishable from AY-vuh.
I slightly prefer the Eva spelling, maybe because I like Eve or maybe because it seems more traditional and international, plus I don't like that Ava reminds me of Ave. However, I'm not sure which I'd actually use IRL, if I had to, since Ava seems so much more expected nowadays, where I live, and it'd feel simpler to just pick that.
I have a cousin with a preteen daughter named Ava. I thought it was a boring choice but not a bad one.
