I like Amaryllis, but it's quite impractical in modern English and had the potential to lead to lots of spelling errors. However, the Spanish variant Amarilis seems to be catching on in Latin American communities (purely anecdotal observation).As for disliking a name before it starts sounding good to me, this has happened with a few recently:Alice

Ooh, I love Amarilis. I've always thought Amaryllis was cool, but I might even prefer Amarilis on a little Latina girl...
